After maya came through me in 2014, I realised the importance of a peer support group for mothers & along with mommy friends I found in Coimbatore. I lost both my parents when maya was 3 months old and that was a transformative experience in my life where I wanted to reach out to young parents to make them feel they have support.
Thanks to like minded young mothers I found on facebook groups, we formed a small whatsapp group for parents in my city to catch up, which has now flourished into an NGO called Coimbatore Parenting Network that I manage with 4 other trustees.
Thanks to this organization we built, I’ve been part of breastfeeding awareness campaigns and breastmilk donation drives for the past 6 years. We have been conducting workshops on various aspects of motherhood & parenting ranging from postpartum mental health, informed birthing, gentle parenting, baby led weaning, alternate schooling practices and sustainability to name a few. It is through this network that I had the privilege to meet tens of thousands of parents and hear all their stories and experiences that has made me what I am today. You can join our facebook group for any local resource or support and follow us of Instagram to keep track of our online and offline events.
