Pregnancy is a time a women gets more self aware of herself, her body and her thoughts. The idea that her health and wellbeing affects her baby provides the best platform for making drastic changes in one’s life. As a Dr sears wellness coach, I focus on Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude and Nutrition (L.E.A.N) related changes in a pregnant women. These four areas work together to make healthier moms and babies during pregnancy and throughout all stages of life. I believe in educating the mother, to educate the entire family.

Is the whole process of labor and childbirth vague and confusing to you ?

Though I am not a childbirth educator, being an advocate of gentle and respectful birth experiences for women and also since I have explored both hospital and birth centres when I was pregnant, I have designed this workshop where I can help you make decisions about choosing the right place of birth, how to choose a care giver, information on childbirth classes, midwives, doulas, hypnobirthing practioners, difference between hospital births and birth centre births and making informed choices.

As a lactation counsellor that has seen thousands of mother-baby dyads, from my experience of handling several lactation challenges, I can guide you on how to avoid going through several issues, with very simple tips and tricks. We will discuss 

  • Preparing to breastfeed, what to expect in the early days after your baby is born
  • Attaining a perfect latch, proper positioning
  • How to maintain your milk supply
  • Common baby behaviours, reflexes and hunger cues
  • How often to breastfeed
  • How to know if baby is getting enough
  • Breastfeeding myths and facts
  • when to stop breastfeeding (weaning)

  • Getting back to exercises, sex & optimum mental health

Thankfully, long gone are the days when expectant fathers had to wait outside the delivery room and were not involved in the immediate care of their child. However, antenatal classes are still aimed very much at the woman when discussing life after birth.

 

Whilst it’s true that nothing will prepare anyone 100% for the ups and downs of new parenthood until you are in it, many fathers and birth partners do say that they wished they had had some greater insight into how to understand and support their partner, before and after their babies were born.

 

My classes/workshop are designed to meet these needs and provide a relaxed and open forum to discuss some fairly sensitive topics.
